The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale (Known more many years as Torresdale Frankford) was the first venue at which bleachers were used for a professional tournament. In the summer of 1941 the club hosted a PGA Tour event that was won by Sam Snead. Snead shot a 64 during the course of the week, a course record that has remained unbroken in the years since.

The club planned to use revenue from the tournament to fence in the property but those plans were put on indefinite hold when the United Statews entered World War II a few months later.
